Diabetic retinopathy is caused when diabetes affects the small blood vessels in the retina, in advanced cases it can cause vision loss. Diabetic retinopathy may not cause any symptoms which is why regular diabetic screening is important. It is an effective way of detecting retinopathy as early as possible.
You will receive your pre-booked NHS appointment, for your diabetic screening, by letter.
